Pune Police Special Branch (SB) Verification for PSARA: Director Antecedents & Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)

KOKJAGUAR Advisory March 30, 2026 4 Min Read

Navigating Pune Police Special Branch Verification for PSARA Licensing

Because private security agencies operate in close proximity to public safety, vital infrastructure, and commercial cash flows, the statutory vetting of agency directors is exceptionally rigorous. Under Section 10 of the PSARA Act, every director, partner, and controlling shareholder must undergo comprehensive character and antecedent verification conducted by the Special Branch (SB-1) of the Pune City Police Commissionerate or Pimpri-Chinchwad Police.

The Special Branch coordinates with the Crime Branch, local police stations under whose jurisdiction the directors reside, and CID records to verify that no applicant has criminal charges, subversive affiliations, or prior convictions under the Indian Penal Code. Concurrently, an officer from the local police station inspects the registered office premises. At KOKJAGUAR Consultancy, we prepare audit-ready character dossiers to ensure flawless police scrutiny. Review our police verification advisory.

Stages of Police Antecedent Clearance

  1. Controlling Authority transmits applicant files electronically to the Commissioner of Police, Pune.
  2. Special Branch (SB-1) issues inquiry summons and forwards verification mandates to local police stations (e.g., Hadapsar, Hinjewadi, Kothrud).
  3. Directors appear at the police station with original identity proofs, address documents, educational degrees, and affidavits.
  4. Police officers conduct physical inspection of the proposed security agency office to verify operational readiness.
  5. Local police station submits favorable verification report to SB-1, which sends the final Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) to the Home Department.
